We can not express how happy we are at the Grande Sports Academy when our players receive praise for their performances.
On topdrawersoccer.com, Brooks Lennon and Sebastian “Bofo” Saucedo received high praise for their stellar performances with the U-17 MNT at the Caspian Cup in Azerbaijan. Lennon scored 7 goals in 3 games and Bofo scored 4 goals in 4 games. Below is what Top Drawer Soccer had to say about our U16 Academy players. Congrats Brooks and Bofo, keep up the outstanding work. Here is the link for the article.
F Sebastian Saucedo, Real Salt Lake Academy: The striker showed a lethal touch in front of goal throughout the four matches, teaming up well with his RSL counterpart Brooks Lennon. Four goals from four games is a return all forwards would die for, though it should be noted Saucedo notched three in one game.
F Brooks Lennon, Real Salt Lake Academy: Perhaps the standout players for the Caspian Cup for the U.S., Lennon hardly missed a beat each game, amassing a whipping eight tallies in the competition. He times his runs to perfection and a cool head to wrap things up with a four-goal outburst in the finale against Uzbekistan.
Another week another look at our GSA Exports where we track the performances of our former and current players in MLS, PDL, Reserve League and National Team duty.
Three Grande Sports Academy players, Bofo Saucedo, Brooks Lennon and Justen Glad will be unavailable this weekend vs Arsenal FC, last game of the season, as they are currently in Azerbaijan participating in the Caspian Cup.
Ricardo Velazco has had a stellar start to his PDL career and will be looking to raise the ceiling even more when he and FC Tucson take on Houston Dynamo on Wednesday in the third round of the U.S Open Cup. He and his teammate are hoping to upset the Dynamo which would be only the 5th time a PDL team has defeated a MLS side.
Stats are for all competitions unless otherwise noted (National Team, US Open Cup, MLS)

Coco Navarro has earned his 4th call up by Real Salt Lake and for Bofo Saucedo it will mark the first time the big club has called his name.
In his previous 3 call ups, Navarro has come off the bench twice vs BYU and scored what would become the game winning goal against Colorado Rapids Reserves.
Navarro has also been outstanding for the academy team this year scoring 18 goals in 17 games.

For Bofo, this call up is another resume builder for the 16-year-old who was recently called up by U.S. Soccer to participate in U17 MNT camp last week. Bofo talked about that experience here.
Bofo has scored 12 goals in 18 games played.
The game will be played on Saturday night 8pm Mountain Time (7pm Arizona Time). There is no LIVE stream but you can follow Real Salt Lake on twitter for updates.
Real Salt Lake Reserve schedule
Sebastian “Bofo” Saucedo was called up by U.S. Soccer to participate in a U17 team week-long camp in California. For Bofo it shows the positive progression he has made since his last call up which was on the U15 team. Bofo, along with teammate Brooks Lennon, shined in the two exhibition games they played against Real So Cal and U15 MNT.
In his first game vs U15 MNT, Bofo picked up an assist and in the next game vs Real So Cal, Bofo picked up another assist and scored the game winning goal. Grande Sports Academy caught up with Bofo once he returned back to back.
Grande – “Impressions on camp?”
Bofo – “It went well. Training was good and the coaches were really cool. It helped me a lot as an attacking mid. Helping me to be more efficient with the ball as well as off the ball. Learning to be cleaner with the ball, only 1 or 2 touch. I thought it was a great camp overall and having another teammate by your side supporting you was huge.”
Grande – “Was there anything the coaches told you to work on?”
Bofo – “Not to be too casual with the ball near the end of games and to finish off the game a little stronger.”
Grande – “You were called into U15 camp and now U17 camp. How does it feel to move up in progression?”
Bofo – “It was just another big step for me. I was really happy and it was just a different step of level in maturity. That means I need to be more mature taking care of myself, working harder. It was another big step and I’m very proud of myself.”
Grande – “How was living and playing at RSL-AZ helped you as a player?”
Bofo – “Everything helped me right away from the beginning when I came here in August. The coaches have really pushed me a lot and they helped push me through the bad times as well. Grande Sports is my second family and it was another step forward for me. Living here, training here makes it like a professional environment. Everyone at the National Team talks about it.”
Grande – “How so?”
Bof0 – “They ask me if it is cool over here and what it is like. I think some of the players would love to come here.”
Grande – “Thoughts on your performance?”
Bofo – “I thought I was really good. Last game I finished off strong. I played a #9 role and I ended up scoring winning goal for the game. I felt very proud of myself.”
Grande – “You were not alone in camp, how was it having Brooks by your side.”
Bofo – Having Brooks by my side was a huge confidence booster. It was just another step for us and it made me feel even more confident representing RSL. I hope we can get even more RSL players on the National Team. We have those players who can become National Team players. With saying that, we need to continue to work hard and continue to ut in hard work. We have the coaching staff and facilities. We can’t ask for anything more.”
