CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Real Salt Lake U-16 Elite team defeated Banat 3-0 in Arizona State League play on Saturday morning at the Grande Sports Academy with a second half brace from Gio Alcocer and a first half goal from Josh Allsion.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Real Salt Lake U-16 and U-18 Elite teams won a combined four matches in Arizona State League play this past weekend and outscored the competition 15-2. This is the first year the Real Salt Lake Elite teams have participated in the Arizona State League and through five matches both sides remain unbeaten with the U-16 team holding down first in the standings for their age group and the U-18s second in their division.
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Real Salt Lake U-18 and U-16 Elite squads continue to dominate Arizona State League play finished the weekend play with a string of impressive performances.
The RSL U-16 Elite squad shook off the previous weekend in Park City, Utah, and put together two impressive performances. On Saturday, RSL notched their second shutout in State League play in a 3-0 win over Futbolito Roadrunners YSC 98. Goals were scored by: Diego Robles, Robby Orona, Ryan Flood and Austin Tucker.
The U-16 Elite team starting XI in the first match of the 2013 NHBC had 10 new faces. The only returning player was Duncan Storey, who was given the captains arm-band by the coaches.
Moments after the opening whistle was blown, the U-16 Elite team played much improved soccer. The first match was a crash course in the “RSL Way” and the second match was an opportunity for the players to show what they have learned hours before.
RSL wasted no time when they jumped out to an early lead in the opening minutes. Gallo played a through ball to Alejandro Parra, who finished far post. RSL continued to create chances because of high pressure. RSL controlled the majority of the first half and went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
The U-16 Elite team finished group #2 as the runner-up going unbeaten in three games for a 1-2-0 record. Their opponent was DMS11 Academy, who won all three of their group games. Moments into the quarterfinals match, DMS showed RSL why they were one of the better teams at the tournament.
