CARSON, Calif. – In the first ever meeting between the two sides, the Real Salt Lake U-16 Academy team defeated U.S. Soccer’s U-15 BNT on Saturday night with a hat-trick from Brooks Lennon and a clean sheet from goalkeeper Christian Herrera.

Lennon, who made his debut for the U-16 MNT earlier this year, opened up his tally in the 26th-minute when he put away a deflected Miles Stray shot. He doubled his count on a beautifully hit free kick from 20 yards halfway through he second half and scored his final goal in the 72nd-minute. Lennon wasn’t the only player on Saturday night who performed exceptionally. Defenders Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Gavino Carranza and Danny Acosta with help from holding midfielder Fito Ovalle kept the U-15 BNT attack at bay and limited them to just three shots on goal.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Real Salt Lake U-16 and U-18 Elite teams won a combined four matches in Arizona State League play this past weekend and outscored the competition 15-2. This is the first year the Real Salt Lake Elite teams have participated in the Arizona State League and through five matches both sides remain unbeaten with the U-16 team holding down first in the standings for their age group and the U-18s second in their division.
Though the GC Cup is officially a U-17 tournament, participating teams in Denver have also brought up a U-15 team to participate in the Cup as well. The RSL U-15 squad will play three matches with the first set to take place on Friday night at 4:00 p.m. PST against Colorado. On Saturday, RSL squares off against Chicago at 4:00 p.m. PST and they will take a day off on Sunday. Their final match at the Denver region event will take place on Monday with RSL taking on FC Dallas at 8:00 a.m. PST.
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – The Real Salt Lake U-18 and U-16 Elite squads continue to dominate Arizona State League play finished the weekend play with a string of impressive performances.
The RSL U-16 Elite squad shook off the previous weekend in Park City, Utah, and put together two impressive performances. On Saturday, RSL notched their second shutout in State League play in a 3-0 win over Futbolito Roadrunners YSC 98. Goals were scored by: Diego Robles, Robby Orona, Ryan Flood and Austin Tucker.
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Real Salt Lake U-16 & U-18 teams participated in their second tournament of the season when they traveled up to Phoenix on Saturday and Sunday for the 2013 Tuzos Challenge.
