DEL MAR, Calif. – Real Salt Lake U-18 extended its match winning streak to three following their 4-1 win over Southwest Division rivals San Diego Surf on Saturday afternoon. The Claret-and-Cobalt was led by Damian German, who recorded a first half brace and Eric Carbajal, who scored a goal on either side of the half.
Playing in their first match in four weeks, RSL U-18 stormed out of the gate and forced the Surf defense to deploy 10-men behind the ball, which allowed the RSL U-18’s ample time to pick apart the stingy Surf defense. The first break for RSL occurred in the 16th-minute when Erik Holt cleared a Surf free kick from the corner. Corey Baird picked up the loose ball and played a through ball down the left-wing to a streaking Jose Hernandez, who then cut in and crossed to the back post where an unmarked German waited for an easy opening goal.
RSL continued to threaten the Surf goal and doubled their lead eight minutes later when Hernandez played to German on the left-wing. German looked up and crossed to Carbajal who lowered his head and scored with eight Surf defenders around him.
German added his second goal moments before halftime when Baird played a corner kick to the near post. German ran up and redirected the ball into the back of the net.
At the start of the second half, San Diego Surf attack overwhelmed the RSL defense and cut the deficit to two when a Surf player finished a cross. The goal was only the eighth goal allowed all season by the RSL U-18’s, who are now the only remaining U-18 team in USSDA league play to allow less than ten goals against to date.
RSL settled down after the goal and score their fourth goal on a short corner. Baird played to Hernandez who then passed to Gayton inside the box. Gayton dribbled to the touchline and sent in a low cross, which found Carbajal for his brace.
D.J. Villegas, Gui Leme and Leo Fuchs all made their USSDA debuts when they were subbed on in the closing minutes.
In three matches in 2014, RSL U-18 have outscored opponents 15-1.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Four players combined for four goals in the final match of group play in the Central Region of the 2013-14 Generation Adidas Cup, as Real Salt Lake U-17 captured first place following their shutout win over Houston Dynamo U-17 on Monday morning at the Grande Sports World.
RSL U-17 has now qualified for a national event where they and other Major League Soccer U-17 qualifying teams will compete alongside international teams in April 2014. In five GA Cup group matches, RSL U-17’s won four, lost one and outscored opponents 21-7.
The Claret-and-Cobalt jumped out to an impressive start and opened their goal tally in the 11th-minute when Evan Waldrep played to Aaron Herrera. Herrera charged up the field and connected with Sebastian Saucedo, who then cut into the box from the right-wing. He lifted his head and sent in a piercing cross that found Josh Doughty for an easy tap in.
Dynamo’s defense responded to the early deficit and held their own and managed to keep RSL from extending their lead before the half. The lone Dynamo chance in first half came on a free kick from 25 yards out in the 30th-minute. The shot took a nasty dive in the box before RSL goalkeeper Christian Herrera calmly punched out the threat.
RSL doubled their lead in the 50th-minute when Saucedo curled in a low free kick that hit the post and bounced in for his fourth goal in three matches. Doughty notched his fourth assist in three matches when he played to Kris “Haiti” Fourcand in the 72nd-minute. Fourcand then shifted to his right, dribbled into the box and scored RSL’s third goal.
Waldrep, who verbally committed to Creighton University in the previous week, had an impressive showing in all three matches at the GSW this weekend. He did not show up in the scoreboard in the final match, but RSL’s third goal had his fingerprints all over it. He cut through the Dynamo defense in the 74th-minute and when he maneuvered around a final defender the ball popped out to Tyler Feeley, who scored his first career goal.
RSL’s backline of: Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Miles Stray and Gavino Carranza along with central midfielder Danny Acosta held the Dynamo attack to a few shots and recorded their first shutout in GA Cup play.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – Real Salt Lake U-17 won their second match in as many days as they defeated Chicago Fire U-17, 3-1, on Saturday night at Grande Sports World in the second leg of the 2013-14 Generation Adidas Cup.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. – A five goal first half effort propelled Real Salt Lake U-17 to a 7-2 win over FC Dallas U-17 at the Grande Sports World on Friday night in the second leg of the 2013-14 Generation Adidas Cup Central Region.
Sebastian Saucedo turned in one of his best performances in Claret-and-Cobalt, scoring a first half brace and notching three assists. Saucedo opened RSL’s goal tally moments into the match when finished a Josh Doughty pass in the 2nd minute, and added a second goal before the half when he curled in a low free kick from the left-wing that took a bounce over a diving FC Dallas goalkeeper.
Saucedo recorded his first assist in the 26th minute when he played a though ball to Doughty from the left-wing and added a second before the half when he played to Tate Schmitt, who then danced around the FCD defense and finished far post. Saucedo’s notched his final assist in the 50th minute when his cross from a corner was headed into the goal by Miles Stray.
Evan Waldrep, who had arguably one of his best performances for the RSL Academy, scored a crucial goal in the 21st minute. With the match tied a 1, a stout defensive stop by Aaron Herrera sprang Doughty free down the right-wing. He dribbled forward and played to Waldrep, who finished near post.
Diego “Diablo” Silva scored RSL’s seventh and final goal in the 52nd minute when Waldrep’s shot was saved by the FCG goalkeeper, who failed to clear. Diego “Diablo” Silva ran up, pounced on the loose ball and tapped in an easy goal.
FCD scored a goal in each half, the first in the 13th minute, which was an equalizing goal. The second goal was in the 66th minute, but by that point RSL had a commanding six goal lead.
RSL will face Chicago Fire in the second to last Central Region match on Saturday night; kickoff set for 6:00 PM.
