Before the new academy season kicks off in the fall coaches at GSA will be holding four open tryouts in 2013 which will help them identify the next crop of RSL players.
The first open tryout was held this past weekend, March15-17, with 25 players coming from all over the world.
Countries that were represented:
South Africa
Haiti
Australia
Canada
USA
Mexico
During the 3-day tryouts there were players who showed promising potential and decent levels of skill, will and quality. Assistant coach Mike Kraus talked about what RSL coaches are looking for in a player.
“We are always looking for players who will make the players around them better. And that means making the simple things look really easy and making the more difficult things look easy as well. Whenever the players make everything look easy they are pretty much doing a great job.”
If you are interested in trying out for RSL-AZ check out the dates below:

We sat down for a quick Q&A with two trialists Judah and Romeo, who traveled to Grande Sports Academy all the way from South Africa, and talked about their experience and why they came this far to try out for the Academy.
