Yesterday marked the opening day of preseason training for both Real Salt Lake-Arizona Academy teams at the Grande Sports World complex. There were many new and returning faces, yet all players came in ready to go from opening whistle. The RSL-AZ U-18 team Head Coach Martin Vasquez led the first group through training. The U-16 Head Coach Mike Munoz did the same for his side. Both the teams are stacked with great talent and numbers. It will be a fierce competition in preseason to determine playing time. The coaching staff stressed the importance of identifying key players immediately.
“We will determine and place the best group of players for each team,” Vasquez said. “It will be a healthy environment with lots of competition. It is important to stay consistent, play our style and attain the results.”
This is a fantastic opportunity for many players to learn and further develop their game. Day one went well and the coaching staff learned more about the players on hand. Soccer is back and in full swing.
