RSL – AZ Academy soccer team, located at the Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Arizona, spent a busy weekend attending a U.S. Men’s National Team training session at the University of Phoenix Stadium, Friday evening, before facing off in inter-squad games, Saturday morning. The Academy teams then traveled back up to Phoenix to watch the US National Soccer team’s game versus Venezuela Saturday night.
Saturday’s inter squad games were arranged after the Seattle Sounders Academy ‘s teams were unable to travel to Casa Grande due to weather conditions in the Northwest. Several college coaches had travelled to watch RSL-AZ in action, including Cornell University and Penn State. Also in attendance were Glendale Community College coaches. The University of Nevada Las Vegas, University of New Mexico and Fort Lewis College, all took in training sessions throughout the previous week.
The boys had an exciting trip up to the University of Phoenix stadium Saturday night to watch the USMNT beat Venezuela 1-0 on an injury time header by Ricardo Clark.
Sunday morning the boys went out to the fields to watch the New England Revolution begin their training at the Grande Sports Academy.
