Every Wednesday on the Grande Sports Academy blog we take a look at how the Real Salt Lake U18 & U16 academy teams are doing in the Southwest Division.
RSL U18 Academy Overview – Statistically speaking, the Real Salt Lake U18 academy team had their best season in the three year history of the academy. This year the team finished W19-L5-D4 with 61 points, 73 goals scored and 35 goals allowed. Coco Navarro led the team in scoring with 20 goals, followed by Benji Lopez who had 12.
Last Game – Scored a season high in goals and defeated Arsenal FC 8-2 on Saturday in the season finale. Goals were scored by: Coco Navarro (2), Amer Sasivarevic (2), Kostas Kotselas (2), Tigran Tiraturyan and Eric Gonzalez. Picture & recap.
Right Now –RSL finished second behind LA Galaxy in the Southwest Division, the highest finish for the team in franchise history. They also finished inside the top 8 in the U-17/18 Playoffs Pool and by securing a spot within the top 8 they will be the highest ranked team in their group for the Development Academy Playoffs. Right now they are #7 and have a chance to move up #6 or #5 depending on the outcome of the Shattuck-Saint Mary’s Soccer Academy and Albertson SC matches.
Up Next – The draw for the 2012-13 Development Academy Playoffs is scheduled for Monday, June 17.

RSL U16 Academy Overview – Real Salt Lake U16 academy team finished W17-L6-D5 with 56 points, 68 goals scored and 34 goals allowed. Brooks Lennon led the team in scoring with 15 goals, followed by Bofo Saucedo who had 14 and Damian German who had 9.
Last Game – Closed out the season with a 1-1 draw against Arsenal FC. The lone goal was scored by Damian German. Picture & recap.
Right Now – RSL U16’s finished second behind Chivas USA in the Southwest Division. They are currently ranked #14 in the U-15/16 Playoff Poll and will be the second best team in their group for the playoffs.
