CASA GRANDE, Ariz. - The Real Salt Lake Academy teams have been perfect at home this season through four matches and on Saturday they will put their streak to the test against Southwest Division rivals San Diego Surf. The RSL U-16 Elite team hosts TSA on Sunday in Far West Regional League play.

The Real Salt Lake U-18 team, ranked #1 by Top Drawer Soccer, has won all five matches played and is the only U-18 team in the nation to not drop any points this season. Niki Jackson has been in great form scoring four goals in as many matches and leading the team in scoring. Luis “Wicho” Barraza has recorded two clean sheets and the team has outscored opponents 14-3. Co-captain and defender Erik Holt committed to UCLA earlier in the week.
In RSL’s most recent match on November 9th, they defeated Arsenal FC 4-1 with three goals scored in the second half. The Claret-and-Cobalt face a San Diego Surf side who has had an inconsistent season going 2-4 and holding down seventh place in the Division. In the Surf’s most recent match they defeated Nomads 1-0 on November 9th.
The RSL U-16 team, ranked #4 by Top Drawer Soccer, is leading the Southwest Division with a 4-1-0 standing and has outscored opponents 22-3, including a combined 9-0 mark in their previous two matches, which were both at the Grande Sports Academy. Josh Doughty, Sebastian “Bofo” Sacuedo and Miles Stray share the team lead in goals with four goals scored and Christian Herrera has recorded three clean sheets.
In the RSL U-16’s most recent match they defeated Arsenal 6-0 on November 9th. They face a San Diego Surf side who is currently holding third in the Division by going 3-1-2 through six matches. In their most recent match, the Surf defeated Nomads 2-1 on November 9th.
The U-18s play first at 10:00 a.m., which is followed by the U-16 match at 12:30 p.m.
After squandering a two-goal second half lead in their previous match, the RSL U-16 Elite team will be motivated to right the ship as the team has lost all four matches played in Far West Regional League play. On Sunday, the Claret-and-Cobalt host TSA Red with kickoff set for 12:00 p.m.
